OCCRI, based at Oregon State University (OSU), is a network of researchers at OSU, University of Oregon, Portland State University, and Southern Oregon University. The legislature charged OCCRI with fostering research among faculty of the Oregon University System (OUS), serving as a clearinghouse for climate information, and provide climate change information to the public.
The Oregon Climate Change Research Institute (OCCRI) was created by the Oregon legislature in 2007 under House Bill 3543. Dr. Philip Mote, the first Director, began work in March 2009.
